I’m an alcoholic. When I start can’t stop. I drank for 30 yrs. I would drink to black out. I prefer to smoke pot. But to blanket non drinkers as untrustworthy is in my opinion a childish statement. It’s like saying I only trust people who cuss because they’re honest. These things aren’t mutually exclusive.

I suspect that this wasn’t meant as an absolute statement because nothing is cut and dry. But before getting defensive and reacting based on emotion and your personal experience perhaps consider what I think this is referring to and the audience it was meant for. We can all agree that drinking loosens inhibitions and can cause us to do things we are, (or should be), embarrassed by later. The group this references are those who need such tight control over their behavior that they don’t risk exposing the thoughts and feelings they know would be unwise for them. Not all of us can be in such control as evidenced by multiple characters and their fall from grace attributed to drinking/drugs, etc. They have only let the ‘truth’ become public. Therefore, those who control themselves to the degree discussed should not necessarily be trusted. And that I can agree with.

words matter. I wasn’t offended but the statement. What I was was mindful of what it means for people to understand that. Perspective and understanding is everything. As I didn’t try to stifle a thought or opinion I was just stating my perspective. Let’s just understand one thing frankly, alcohol is a poison to the human body no matter if you can “handle “ it and your behavior or not. Hmmmm ?
